Review: Adorama Pix | Fresno, Ca

I was recently given the opportunity to review a photo book, made by Adorama Pix. I have never ordered from this division of the company, but know of Adorama and their great customer service, so I wanted to give them a try!

The ordering system was very simple and easy to use. I wanted to create my own book, but didn’t want to spend all of the time it takes to design each page. I was pleasantly surprised that they had the option to select a blank book and choose separate  templates for each different page.

I chose the 8×12 book, with a custom cover, 14 pages because I knew I had about 20 images I wanted to use. I planned to make a book for my daughter for her birthday, something I normally would not have the patience for. All-in-all it probably took me 10 minutes to construct through the system.

I will say that because of the way the system was set up and because of the ease of ordering and premade templates I was a little worried about the quality, thinking it might be similar to less professional printing companies.

I have to say that I was blown away when I opened the box that it came in.

Here is a picture with my phone as reference to the size(the thickness of the book is greater than that of the phone), the cover has a metallic finish that gives it a very expensive feel and is very heavy and almost padded-y! lol

The pages are of good quality and are weighted and a good thickness. They lay flat, which in the photography world is very important.

I was a little surprised that the first page was printed on the inside of the cover, I think I would have preferred a blank page first, but you wouldn’t know it by the quality of the images, they are superb!

Everything looks just as it did in the ordering screen, text is nice and clear, no smudging or heavy ink lines.

I really am incredibly impressed with the paper, image and color quality! Everything is lovely!

Again, the last page is on the inside back cover of the book…

As I was making the book I was very concerned about my judgement and whether or not I would have lined the photos up well on the spine. My OCD was preparing for the worst off centered meeting, but I was happy to see they were lined up perfectly!!

The ONLY thing, that caused the slightest bit of concern, and this is nit picky, is that there were a few spots where the spine bent at the edges that seemed to have rubbed a bit. I have zoomed in so it looks worse in the pics, you can barely notice it in real life. This is something I would have to be very careful with if I was ordering for clients. Something I would want to tell them to look out for, but definitely in no way a deal breaker.

I absolutely love the book, and am so glad I had this opportunity to make one. I am going to make a habit out of doing one of these books for each child on their birthday highlighting what is going on in their lives and telling a little bit about the people they are in that moment. Now that I know how easy it is, it’s not something that I will put off for months worried about the time consumption.

The prices are great and the ease of the ordering system is what I would definitely recommend you to check out!

A Family Affair…| Fresno, Ca. Family Photographer

Between my mother, my sister and I, we all lead a pretty hectic lifestyle. Children, family, work. You name it.  We don’t get together near as often as we should and it seems it is never quite long enough and always spur of the moment. The important thing is we are together, no matter what lengths it takes to get there.

One of the things that makes me feel complete is knowing that the pictures I take today, tomorrow, yesterday…will preserve the moments that never seem to last long enough. They will be forever frozen in the image I create. I can live there as long as I want and without fear of forgetting.

I wanted to grab some pictures of my mother with the kids.  For them. Last minute, throw all the kids in the picture  un-matching,  tired from the day type style  and hope for the best. We are missing one here, but we celebrated Mother’s Day Saturday so that Sunday was free for her to celebrate with her mother. I didn’t need an award winning image, just Grandma and her babies. I almost backed out, tired from my previous shoot, but am so glad I didn’t.

I’ve wanted to do this for quite some time. I want them to see the grandma that comes over every Sunday. I want them to see the mother she is to me and how she never lets me down. I want them to look at their cousins and see how much they love her, and how much they all love each other. I want them to know that I knew it was important enough to capture all of these things without waiting around for the perfect outfits or a fresh haircut. Heck, even combed hair! I want them to have a visual reminder of the type of family we are and how much we need each other. All of this, I can give them in one picture.  All of that they can give me. What better gift could I ask for, for Mother’s Day? (Besides the awesome picture hanger my husband bought me!!:)) A gift for me, my mother and my children all in a single image. Priceless.

Jeff | Fresno, Ca. Senior Photographer

Jeff and his mother were just so sweet! I get so lucky with my clients, being so easy to get along with and good looking at that. I had a blast roaming the golf course and walking the streets of downtown to get these pics. Jeff is graduating soon and hopes to play golf in college! Good luck over the summer Jeff!
